Newcomer Ultimate Bundle: Grades 3-8

I am a teacher in a small multigrade school. This year I had a ELL student join us mid year with no English background. The student is in 8th grade and I was torn which resource to get since she is upper elementary. However since most of our students are younger, I got this resource as I could see it being used more often than a middle or high school resource. However, I am disappointed. While real pictures are used, cartoon characters are used as well. I personally would not say the graphics are for grades above 5th grade and so while it is labeled for 3-8, I would lean towards 3/4th grade.

I choose this product as it was within my price range and to save me time. However, the files are not organized and thus I have had to push through my frustration in order to use the product. The labels are confusing and not clear. I have to open each file to see what is inside. It would have been nice if each file was labeled by Unit and topic. For example "Unit 4 Helping at Home" rather than "ESLNewcomersCurriculumElementaryStudentsESLNewcomerActivities" and there are a whole list of similarly named files which gives me no clue what is inside and to differentiate the difference between them.

I do appreciate that there are a lot of resources. Once I got past the labeling, my student has been using the resource and I have seen improvement in her vocabulary.

One thing to consider in using this resource is that it requires the ability to read. My student has no foundation for reading in English and so we are working on that skill as well, but it limits how much of this material we can use.

EDIT: After I made this review, Beth pointed out the Bonus File which I missed as it was not listed with the other downloads. It organizes all the material which will be super helpful and time saving.

This has been such a huge help! My students are engaged, the amount of work is timed perfectly, and my students are LEARNING! I am so pleased with this bundle and use it daily!

Some great resources in this bundle! This was definitely a better way than purchasing each separately.
I found it difficult to decide between the bundles especially since I teach middle/high school levels.
There were some activities in this bundle that are marked for younger levels and that we focused on students much younger that required some editing to make appropriate.
I wish the labelling system was better. I had difficulty finding the ESL Speaking & ESL Writing Cards for all the months to organize in my files the way they are labelled. It helped when some of them had the months in their titles. *( But some months were not so it was a hunt and find adventure that wasted time.
I look forward to more products at the intermediate/high school levels.

My students loved it and I loved it because its ready to be used.
